PriceWatcher is a browser extension that tracks the price of product pages you choose. It is built to need no account and no server. This page describes exactly what that means.

What it stores

Everything PriceWatcher saves is stored on your own computer, in your browser’s local extension storage:

  • · The product pages you have chosen to track, including their web addresses.
  • · The prices it has recorded over time, plus the product titles and images shown on your cards.
  • · Your settings: check frequency, theme, display currency, folders and sort order.
  • · Items you have deleted, until you empty the recycle bin.

What it does not do

  • · It does not collect personal information.
  • · It has no server, no account system and no sign-in.
  • · It does not send your tracked products, your browsing, or anything else to me or to a third party.
  • · It uses no analytics, telemetry, advertising or tracking of any kind.
  • · It does not sell or share data, because it never receives any.

Network requests

PriceWatcher makes network requests in only two situations:

  1. 1 Re-checking prices. On the schedule you choose, it fetches the product pages you saved so it can read their current price. These requests go to the shops themselves, exactly as if you had opened the page.
  2. 2 Showing product images. Your cards display the product image hosted by the shop.

Those shops can see these requests, as they would any visit. PriceWatcher sends them nothing beyond an ordinary page request.

Permissions

The extension asks for access to all websites because it cannot know in advance which shops you will want to track. You decide that by pressing capture on a page you are visiting. That access is used only to read the price from a page you explicitly capture, and to re-check pages you have already saved.

Removing your data

Everything lives in your browser. Deleting an item and emptying the recycle bin removes it. Uninstalling the extension removes all of it. There is nothing stored elsewhere for me to delete, and no account to close.

Support and contact

PriceWatcher is free, with every feature included and nothing held back. An optional donation link appears in Settings. It unlocks nothing and is not required.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
